At the turn of the last century, the G.A. Pfretzschner company had numerous contract workshops and home workers, whose bows they bought in large numbers. The good pernambuco bows were partially stamped with the initials G.A. Pfretzschner . There were different quality levels.
 
This gold-mounted violin bow was probably made from very high quality pernambuco wood at this time. The octagonal pole is elastic and plays fluid and soft. The ebony frog has a shimmering white pearl-slide and an inlaid gold treble clef. The gold screw is decorated with mother-of-pearl. The head is very finely crafted and is designed with a gold head plate to match the outfit. 
 
The bow weighs 62 g and its center of gravity is 26.5 cm of the total length of 74.1 cm.
